If you are heading for an indoor cycling for the first time ever, you must be bombarded in your head with the questions like what should I wear? What can I tell my instructor? What if I can’t do a whole class?

Relax; you are not alone in this dilemma. Here are some tips to make your first time in the saddle a success!

What to wear: Getting dressed does not mean you will appear in padded shorts or a cycle jersey. Make sure your shorts are spandex or tighter fitting. For tops, a sweat absorbing t-shirt or tank top is perfect with a good sports bra.

Pick your towel and lace up right shoes: Stiff soul sneakers turn out to be a great option. Spinning cleats are always a great investment too! Take your towel with you as you may not want your hands to slip.

Understand the bike. Make sure to ask how the resistance knob works and when are you supposed to use different hand positions. Keep a note if your handlebars and the placement of your foot are correct. No question is stupid when it comes to your safety.

Stay for the cool down and stretching. Getting time to cool down allows your body to recover after the intense workout. It allows proper blood flow back to your heart and reduces muscle stiffness and soreness.
